PM notification icon (red)

When I get 1 PM, I get a red 1 in the header telling me there is one new PM.
When I get 2 or more PM's, I also get a red 1 in the header.

Also, when I click the icon, the popup opens an the red 1 is removed not knowing if I had 1 or more unread PM's.
